Organizing Hell or Help? – Shared Experiences
When recently faced with cleaning out 3 generations of items in the family home, Alison Wheatley wanted to find happy new homes for the items not wanted by the remaining family members, as well as contribute to her community. The items presented a range of challenges which tested and proved again Alison’s patience, persistence and research abilities.
For example, two chairs purchased in the late 1980′s and specially designed for long term sitting, she thought might be perfect for seniors who spend much of the day sitting. The local seniors’ home confirmed her thoughts and were delighted to receive the chairs. Some items were sold to specialized retail outlets, while others were donated to museums. Some items went to deserving members of Alison’s personal network of associates. Overall, everyone benefited and the majority of items found a new home in a way that honored the original owners. As a result of her fulfilling experiences, Alison has found her niche. She wants to help you after you have de-cluttered your space, perhaps through a move or an annual cleanout, by sharing her learning and research abilities in finding happy new homes for items you are discarding. Ask about her services by contacting awheat@telus.net.
If you have an experience to share, we would love to hear from you.

Alison, you’ve done a good thing. Congratulations. My sister-in-law did the same things with her Mom’s things when Mother passed away. There is often a great need in senior’s homes for these types of theraputic items and, with ideas and advise coming from the nine siblings, everything found a place where it could be put to good use.
I admire anyone who goes to the trouble of finding the need and filling it. You have not only honored the people who once owned the items but you have honored our planet, our home, by keeping usable items out of land-fill sites.
Thanks.
Lynda, Alison and I are thrilled to hear that you appreciate the efforts she has taken to ensure that the right people are matched with her family treasures. There is nothing more rewarding to see the enjoyment being passed on to those who will equally honour prized possessions.
