Covenant House

Convenant House mission is to provide shelter and services to children and youth who seek help, with a priority of concern and commitment to those for whom no other service is available.

You can donate food 24/hrs a day and they accept donations of clothing and some house-hold items (sheets, small appliances, kitchen ware).

Due to limited space, they can only take certain items for donation and would like to discuss your donation before you drop it off (saving you a trip if the items you wish to donate are not suitable for youth 16-24).

Free Geek Vancouver

Free Geek is a nonprofit community organization that reduces the environmental impact of waste electronics by reusing and recycling donated technology. Through community engagement they provide education, job skills training, Internet access and free or low cost computers to the public.

Ethical Computer Recycling for Vancouver,  the first operation of its kind in Canada, and is entirely locally owned and operated.  Free Geek accepts ALL computers and computer-related hardware, in ANY condition free of charge.

They generate funds to support Habitat’s building programs, while reducing the amount of used materials that are headed for overflowing landfills! They are an environmentally friendly store that makes sense!

Helping Families in Need Society

Helping Families in Need Society is a small group of dedicated volunteers who take time to pickup and distribute used household items to women from transition houses, single moms on income assistance, new immigrant families and needy families in our community.

By donating your used household goods you can make a difference to families in need and help give them a new start.

HomeStart Foundation

HomeStart Foundation is a non-profit Christian humanitarian organization helping people re-establish a home. Working in partnership with over 70 member agencies, they give donated home furnishings to people in need.

They pick up furniture, store it in their warehouse, and then deliver the furnishings and household effects to those with specific needs to enable them to establish a comfortable home environment. They provide an opportunity for the people of Greater Vancouver to achieve the double objectives of generosity and stewardship (reduce, reuse and recycle), by making available surplus household effects, in good condition, to those in need.

Lookout Society

The Lookout Society provides a welcoming and safe hang-out for the local mentally ill.

They accept all kinds of donations. Personal items and furniture. We have enclosed a couple of PDF’s for your easy reference.

Skis Donated to Charity

The Zanskar Ski School is a small non-profit organization in the Indian Himalaya. They provide ski equipment and ski instruction to the Zanskari people.

In demand are Telemark, Alpine Touring or Cross-Country equipment in reasonably good condition. They do NOT collect DOWNHILL ski equipment – as there are no lifts/cable-cars in Zanskar! Children’s sizes are most needed.

By donating your used skis, poles, boots, sunglasses, ski clothing, climbing equipment or ice-hockey skates, you will be supporting the mission of the ski school: To provide communication, transportation, rescue and job opportunities for the people of the Zanskar Himalaya through skiing.

The Cinderella Project

The Cinderella Project provides underprivileged high school graduates – girls and boys (Cinderfellas) – from the Greater Vancouver area with formal attire so they can attend their graduation festivities with pride. School counsellors, teachers, principals or social services agencies throughout the Lower Mainland refer students to the organization. A Boutique Day is held each Spring where each grad selects a gown, suit or tuxedo, shoes, purse and accessories. Students also have their hair and makeup done
