Join Erin Shaw of The Express, as she and Professional Organizer Linda Chu, take you through the steps in tackling your home clutter problems in this segment of the Daily 4. Everyone has a junk room or closet.

Everyone has a junk room or closet containing old toys, books, or other random things. It’s clutter. But, clutter doesn’t accumulate overnight. It is a sign of unfinished tasks. People have things they need to do but leave them until later and that’s when the piles start to grow.

To tackle your home clutter problem, the first step is to sort. Go through everything in your space (room or closet). Make decisions about which items go in rubbish, recycle, or donations, and which items to keep. Next, designate locations to store items based on what you have and how often you need to access them. This will help you decide what type of containers you should be looking at to store your items. In the end, you’ll have a place for everything and everything will be in its place.
