We do many tasks on computers, from our job to online learning to our family finances. We stream movies on computers and even buy our groceries online. While we might have a dedicated desk at our workplace, you might not have a suitable one at home. Lots of people need a portable office at home. Sometimes you need to move from room to room to supervise children or find a quiet place to focus and concentrate. Here are some options for easily portable desks that promote good ergonomics.

Moft Z

The Moft Z is a 4-in-1 “invisible” sit-stand laptop desk. Because of its unique Z-shaped design, you can use your laptop at different heights and angles. It is lightweight yet very sturdy. It is called “invisible” because when it folds flat, it is about the same size as a magazine. Therefore, it is easy to carry around the house with you, and it slips neatly inside your laptop bag for clutter-free storage.

Laptop Lap Desk

The AboveTEK Portable Laptop Lap Desk doesn’t have a variable height option, but it does have a slide-in/out mousepad that can you can use on either the left or right side. If you’re more productive with a mouse than a trackpad, this is a great option. It has a non-slip surface that allows airflow to help your laptop stay cool too.

Multi-Purpose Portable Desk

This portable table caught my eye while researching this article. It’s bulkier than the Moft-Z, but it is a more comfortable option for working on your laptop while in bed or on the sofa. You can adjust the height and angle so you could use it for drawing or writing. You can place it on the top of a sitting desk to elevate your computer and voilà! Now, you have a standing desk. Because it folds up easily, you can hide it under the sofa or bed.

Moose Backpack Office

For those people “on the go,” Moose Designs created this amazing portable office built into an anti-theft backpack (pictured at the top of the post). It is expensive for a backpack. However, it is made of cut-resistant, waterproof fabric and has reinforced handles and zippers. There are also built-in privacy screens so you can work comfortably in a coffee shop or commuter train. Take a browse through their website to see all of its well-designed features.

Gadget Organizer

When you work in various places throughout your home, other office tools are not always at your fingertips. You get comfortable in the living room and realize you left a charging cable in the bedroom. It’s time-consuming searching for all these bits and pieces. Increase your productivity by using a gadget organizer. One similar to this travel electronics organizer is handy to corral cables and other bits and pieces. You can even put a small notebook inside. A cosmetics bag or pencil case would work equally well – depending on how many gadgets you need to take with you.

Portable Office Walls

With a portable office, you can work anywhere. However, you may have to pay close attention to your surroundings if you are in a teleconference. You may not want your co-workers and clients to see piles of laundry behind you or the bare stud walls in your unfinished basement. While many video conference systems allow you to add a virtual background, not all computer systems are modern enough to use this feature. Besides, virtual backgrounds look like virtual backgrounds and many of them can be distracting.

To solve this problem, Doris Anderson of Dorart has created BackDrop, a three-panel wall system that creates an instant office environment. You can add interchangeable artwork to reflect your personal or corporate brand. The “walls” fold flat for easy storage behind a bookshelf or under a bed. It provides an upscale professional background for teleconferences, and it also gives you a closed-off, private area to make you feel you are in a ‘real’ office. This alone can be a big boost to your productivity – especially if you are one of those people who gets sidetracked by visual distractions. Contact Doris directly to place an order.
